About Latanya
Latanya Parker, BSN, RN, is a registered surgical nurse and clinical nursing instructor with more than three decades of experience in the nursing profession, having begun her healthcare career in 1994. She currently serves as a Surgical Nurse with Ochsner Health while also teaching medical-surgical nursing as an instructor at Delgado Community College. Her career reflects a strong commitment to clinical excellence, nursing education, and preparing future healthcare professionals through hands-on instruction and mentorship.
In addition to her nursing practice, Parker has built an extensive background in education and workforce development. Earlier in her career, she worked in pharmacy, where her aptitude for training others led her to teach colleagues and prepare them for professional examinations. She later became a clinical instructor and served as a preceptor for first- and second-year pharmacy students at Xavier University. She also teaches through Workforce programs, supporting the education and development of aspiring healthcare professionals. Continuing her own professional growth, Parker is completing her Nurse Practitioner program and plans to begin pursuing a Juris Doctor degree, motivated by her passion for advocacy within healthcare.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Parker is dedicated to serving her community through educational outreach and rehabilitation initiatives. She has contributed her time and expertise by teaching within correctional facilities, including a local jail and the Youth Correctional Center, helping individuals gain knowledge and opportunities for personal growth. Her longstanding commitment to patient care, education, mentorship, and lifelong learning has established her as a respected healthcare professional devoted to improving both clinical practice and the future of nursing.
