Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Put your mind to anything, period. No matter what it is, never let anybody tell you no. I'm all about empowerment, all about women empowerment. The world has changed and evolved. Before, it was always like the women were at home taking care of the children, men go out to work. Nowadays, we can be just as equal with the men. We can go to school, go to college, get an education just like the men can do. We may not know everything that a man can do, we may not be able to do everything a man can do, but learn the basics. The basic things are going to really help you a lot. Just knowing the basics goes a long way because it won't be like, oh, well, the woman has to wait on me. No, she doesn't. She knows the basic things to be able to try to fix the situation. Ultimately, my advice to women would be empower yourself, educate yourself, and never just sit there and feel less because you don't know this or you have to wait on the man. Empower yourself, and you can do it. I want to be to where I'm not going to depend on a man. Even if I'm in a relationship with one, at the end of the day, if that relationship ever goes, I don't want to be like, well, what am I going to do now? I'm going to have to jump back in another one because I don't know anything. No, I want to make sure that I can empower myself.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is that customer service is very competitive. Believe it or not, it's not always about having a degree these days. You could have the highest degree possible and still not be the one that they're looking for for that job. It could be somebody that's there every day. Reliability is a huge thing. No matter how much education you have behind you, they want somebody who's committed, who's asking those questions, who's engaging in those conversations. Customer service can be so competitive. They always need telemarketers all the time, so it's easy to find jobs, but keeping them, there's always somebody that's willing to maybe take a pay cut or willing to start at the bottom in order to just have their foot in the door.
