Her Story

About LaTasha

LaTasha Rogan is the Manager of the Analysis & Controls Team within the utility IT project management industry, bringing nearly 25 years of experience to her role. Her career path began unexpectedly: after volunteering at a hospital in high school and realizing medicine wasn't the right fit, a chemistry teacher introduced her to chemical engineering, a field she had never considered or seen represented by someone who looked like her. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Tuskegee University, later adding a Master of Business Administration from Bethel University and a PMP certification along the way. Rogan's professional journey started at the Tennessee Valley Authority as a Systems Engineer supporting chemical-related systems at a nuclear power plant. Though the experience was valuable, she soon discovered her true calling through a connection that introduced her to a role in project controls, ultimately redirecting her career toward project management, where she has since spent over two decades. Rising through positions such as Project Control Specialist, IT Project Manager, and Senior Project Manager, she now leads a team of portfolio analysts, overseeing hiring, coaching, and preparing staff for new assignments. She specializes in project management, project controls, and portfolio analysis, and views project management not just as a profession but as a way of thinking that she applies across both her professional and personal life, including her involvement in church ministries. Beyond her corporate achievements, Rogan is guided by a strong spiritual foundation that keeps her grounded and purposeful in every decision she makes. She upholds values of trust, integrity, teamwork, respect, and transparency, striving to lead with her team's best interests at heart. Passionate about mentoring the next generation, she encourages women entering STEM and project management fields to recognize that they've earned their place and to speak with confidence and authority. Looking ahead, she is energized by the opportunities artificial intelligence brings to project management workflows, while continuing to navigate the challenge of demonstrating her transferable leadership skills within a large organization. Her achievements have earned her recognition as a featured honoree among Influential Women in 2026.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with LaTasha

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a strong spiritual foundation that keeps me grounded and purposeful. My faith guides every decision I make, ensuring I stay aligned with the path I'm meant to follow rather than trying to imitate someone else's journey.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was to make room at the table for myself. Early in my career, a manager encouraged me to physically pull my chair up to the conference table instead of sitting against the wall. Over time, I realized the lesson went much deeper than where I sat—it was about believing my voice truly mattered, confidently contributing, and never allowing myself to remain in the background when I had valuable insights to offer.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My message to women entering this industry is simple but powerful: you've earned your seat at the table. I encourage women to trust their education, experience, and expertise. Rather than letting the loudest voice in the room dominate, I urge them to speak with confidence, authority, and conviction when they know they have something valuable to contribute.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I see tremendous opportunity in the growing role of artificial intelligence within project management, and I'm excited to help my team embrace AI tools that improve efficiency, streamline workflows, and increase productivity, especially since the utility industry is still in the early stages of adoption. At the same time, one of my biggest challenges is career advancement within a large organization—after many years with the same company, I sometimes feel people see only my current niche rather than my broader leadership capabilities. I remain focused on demonstrating that my project management and leadership skills are transferable across the organization and can position me for continued growth.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I believe in treating others the way I want to be treated. I value trust, integrity, teamwork, respect, and transparency, and I lead with my team's best interests at heart. As a leader, I strive to create an environment where my team feels supported, respected, and confident that my decisions are made with integrity.
