About Latonya
LaTanya Jackson is a seasoned HR and corporate social impact leader with nearly 20 years of experience at Walmart, progressing through leadership roles in human resources, people strategy, and community relations. She currently serves as Executive of Community Relations and Corporate Affairs, focusing on social impact, employee development, and community engagement. She holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Lincoln University of Missouri with a minor in sociology and a master's degree in HR Law from Lindenwood University. She attributes her success to her family as her North Star, which keeps her steady through pivots and opportunities. Jackson received the Key to the City of St. Louis for her leadership in disaster relief efforts following a tornado that devastated the north side of St. Louis.

01What do you attribute your success to?
My family is my North Star. They keep me steady through different stages and opportunities to pivot. Knowing there are people who see things in me beyond what I am right now helps me always know when to pivot.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
If you stay ready, you don't have to get ready. It means always thinking ahead, being intentional with moves and decisions, standing firm in beliefs. If you consider yourself a leader and nobody is following you, then you're simply just taking a walk. Every step has to be intentional and leave a lasting impression.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be bold. Be about your work. Understand that you should always be standing in absolute confidence even in rooms where you feel like you are the only one. Stand in it. Tighten up. Every room and opportunity is already written for you. Reach back to bring someone else forward.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Balancing it all with being a wife, a businesswoman, a mom, a friend can be overwhelming. Coming into this age, you tend to prioritize things that are better for yourself, and finding that balance is more so about your own health than taking care of everyone else.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
