What do you attribute your success to?
I credit much of my success to the path I took into this field. My career began as a call center representative with CenterPoint Energy, where I volunteered to serve as a union steward — a pivotal step that led to a role as a union representative with the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU). There, I developed a strong foundation in labor relations, advocacy, and the power of effective workplace communication.
That experience sparked a lasting interest in mediation and conflict resolution, ultimately guiding me to my current role as a mediator with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS). In this capacity, I help labor and management navigate negotiations across a wide range of industries, working through both complex disputes and routine bargaining matters. Beyond mediation, I deliver skills-building training and workshops that strengthen communication, collaboration, and problem-solving. I also coach teams and support leadership development, which remains one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.
I am proud to serve as a federal employee and to contribute to more constructive, collaborative workplace relationships through both dispute resolution and the development of stronger, more capable leaders.
