LaTovia Johnson serves as HRBP and Safety Officer with more than five years of experience in human resources. Her career path began in healthcare as a nurse, after which she earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. This education led to positions as a business analyst and senior quality assurance specialist in healthcare companies, eventually transitioning her into HR roles. In her current position, Johnson handles recruiting, onboarding, employee grievances, leave management, and various concerns raised by managers and employees. She completed her MBA last year and is a member of SHRM, which supports her professional growth. Johnson attributes her success in the field to strong communication skills that help resolve issues effectively.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Communication has been key to my success in HR. Being able to clearly communicate with employees and managers helps resolve issues effectively.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Never give up always put your best foot forward no matter how hard it gets.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do your research and read books to ensure HR is the right path. Take any opportunity to mentor or be a mentee to gain experience.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The challenge is finding and staying on the right path among so many opportunities available in the HR world.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me, both professionally and personally, are integrity, respect, accountability, and continuous growth. I believe in doing the right thing even when it's difficult, treating everyone with fairness and empathy, and taking ownership of my work and decisions. I also value building trusting relationships and creating environments where people feel supported, heard, and empowered to succeed. Personally, I'm committed to lifelong learning and continuously improving my skills, and I bring that same mindset to my work by embracing challenges, adapting to change, and looking for ways to make a positive impact on both employees and the organization.
