Her Interview
Ten minutes with Laura
01What do you attribute your success to?
I think hard work. Nothing gets done unless you put in the time and the work. And you learn so much by even starting, even when you don't know where to start. But I think nothing will get you farther other than working hard.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Slow movers don't get fed. Closed mouths don't get fed. I don't like to take the victim mentality, and I do like to knock on doors, talk to people, and open my mouth to make sure that I am relaying what I want.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Go for it, jump and figure it out on the way down. It's okay to feel uncomfortable, it's okay to feel like you don't know what's happening. But you're not gonna feel what's going on on the other side of that fear, it's a beautiful thing in growth.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Women are still emerging into the workforce and competing an uphill battle against men for C-level positions. In the construction industry, it's all men, and I have to motivate myself to speak up and feel confident.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Transparency and being the best possible version you can be. Making sure that I can trust myself by executing on the goals that I put. Making sure that I am meeting the expectations of the people that hire me.
