Laura Jones

Community Engagement Manager
Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity
Greeley, CO 80631

Laura Jones is the Community Engagement Manager at Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity, where she leads youth and faith engagement initiatives, oversees volunteer scheduling for construction sites, and coordinates outreach efforts across construction, ReStore, and marketing teams. In this role, she plays a key part in strengthening the organization’s presence in the community while ensuring smooth collaboration across departments to support Habitat’s mission.

Laura’s work is grounded in building authentic, long-term relationships with congregations, youth groups, volunteers, and donors. She believes deeply in investing time and genuine passion into community work and approaches collaboration with patience and grace, especially when navigating cross-functional partnerships. Her commitment to service began through local volunteering with organizations such as the Immigrant & Refugee Center and a food bank, as well as through service on community advisory boards—experiences that ultimately led her to pursue a career in the nonprofit sector.

After joining Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity as a full-time Volunteer Coordinator, Laura was promoted to Operations Manager within a year and now serves in her current leadership role. She has spent the past several years serving on a local community center advisory board that supports largely Hispanic/Latinx residents and as an ex-officio member of the City of Greeley Youth Commission. Laura holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in sociology and continues to be driven by a strong belief in community connection, equity, and meaningful engagement.

I attribute my success to the support of my team and colleagues, and to a CEO who took a leap of faith in hiring me despite my lack of prior nonprofit experience.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received was to invest my time in my community, be passionate about what I do, and build relationships—starting with having the courage to talk to leaders like the mayor of my community.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering my industry to volunteer where they want to work, build relationships with local officials, and get involved in community boards to expand their networks and open doors to opportunity.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges—and opportunities—in my field right now is keeping pace with the ongoing coordination across multiple departments, which requires strong communication, patience, and the ability to balance expanding responsibilities.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are giving people grace and practicing patience, while staying grounded through time with family, enjoying the outdoors through swimming and hiking, playing with my two kittens, and savoring quiet moments at home with a cup of hot chocolate and Netflix.
