Her Interview
Ten minutes with Laura
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the incredible leaders and mentors who believed in me early on, especially at Yahoo where they gave me opportunities to grow and come to the States. In the privacy field, I pay tribute to the pioneering women who paved the way with solidarity, mentoring, and empowering others. My competitive advantage is learning from the very best people I surrounded myself with.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be intellectually curious, develop genuine and meaningful relationships rather than just networking, find inspiring people to learn from, do not take yourself too seriously, enjoy the process of learning and solving complex problems, and get comfortable being uncomfortable since the field is ever-changing.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges are keeping up with the rapid pace of technology evolution and operationalizing ever-changing regulatory requirements around privacy, data, and AI across different global jurisdictions. Companies must integrate new technologies responsibly while leading with integrity.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Intellectual curiosity, building genuine and lasting relationships, not taking oneself too seriously, maintaining perspective and humility, enjoying the learning process, solving complex problems, and bringing people along with you rather than alienating them.
