About Laura
Laura Krukowski serves as the Director of Radiation Oncology at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, where she oversees radiation therapists and the administrative team, dedicating about 60 percent of her time to operations and 40 percent to strategy across the main campus and Northeast Ohio region. She started her career in 1999 as a radiation therapist right out of high school after attending radiologic technology school, where she discovered her passion for the field through shadowing experiences that highlighted the long-term patient contact and physics involved. Over the years, she progressed through various operational and leadership roles, moving into a true management position in 2015. Krukowski holds certifications in radiologic technology and radiation therapy, a Bachelor's of Healthcare Administration, and a Master's in Library and Information Science. Her professional passion lies in educating others about the field, including speaking at career fairs and radiologic technology programs. She is a member of the ASRT, OSRT, and ACRO SEALS Committee, and volunteers annually for the Velo Sano fundraiser supporting cancer research. Krukowski emphasizes the importance of boundaries between work and home, drawing on her experiences as a family woman with children and grandchildren to support her team as a servant leader.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would absolutely promote the field as much as possible, with the understanding that this is cancer care... it's an amazingly gratifying career. I have enjoyed meeting those people and walking with them in their journey, even if it is sometimes sad.
