Her Interview
Ten minutes with Laura
01What do you attribute your success to?
My ability to connect the dots and look at things from multiple perspectives. My operations background taught me to look at the whole system, not just the problem in front of me. I'm very relationship-driven, but I also have a strong sense of ownership—if something isn't working, my instinct is to figure out how we can make it better.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't be afraid to fail—just try. Think outside the box, trust yourself, and do the right thing. You don't have to have every answer before you're willing to take the chance.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You don't have to know everything on day one, and your career doesn't have to follow a perfectly linear path. Be curious enough to learn, humble enough to ask questions, and determined enough to figure it out. Every experience gives you a different perspective to carry forward. Your roles may change, but never lose sight of why you're doing the work. Everything we do in healthcare ultimately impacts someone's loved one.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, honesty, compassion and kindness. Say what you're going to do and follow through. Be someone people can count on, and never forget that everyone is human. I believe accountability and empathy can absolutely coexist.
