Her Interview

Ten minutes with Laura

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would attribute my success to being driven and keeping focus and being able to pivot really quickly, even through failure. Sticking to it, and lifting myself back up, and trying again if something doesn't work, being willing to get back in there and keep pushing on.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Get clarity and narrow your focus.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Get yourself as much education as you can, and really learn and understand the field and the practice with as much knowledge as you can, so that you can provide the highest level of service. And find a way to differentiate yourself so that what you offer is unique and special.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

It's a very trends-driven field, and there's a lot of opportunity in finding what you know and holding the line with what you're doing, and just doing the best at that, as opposed to constantly chasing the trends. People are becoming fatigued with being oversold things that don't work, so making sure we're providing value and really trying to help people.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, kindness, compassion, honesty, and being true to who I am.
