Her Story

About Laura

Laura Tran is currently a student at Michigan State University, where she works three positions supporting student success programs. As the Pathways student assistant, she assists the director with annual reports and projects. In her role as social media marketing assistant for TRIO, she creates graphics and content to promote program events. She previously served as a peer mentor for TRIO for two years before resigning to focus on full-time student teaching. Laura is pursuing a bachelor's degree in secondary education in English and plans to graduate in May 2027. She recently earned Michigan Teacher Test Certifications in English Language Arts for grades 7 through 12 and in professional knowledge and skills. Her professional focus centers on supporting students in education and advocating for them, inspired by her own experiences growing up without adequate support and a pivotal high school teaching opportunity. She is a member of the Pathways program, TRIO at Michigan State University, and ACPA. Laura intends to pursue a master's degree in educational leadership and become a school principal.
