Her Story
About Laura
Laura Waggy is the co-founder of Calm Crow Healing Sanctuary, a wellness venture in Boonsboro, Maryland, dedicated to creating spaces for restoration, connection, and holistic well-being. Her journey into healing began in 2018, when, while balancing work and raising three young children as a single mother, she discovered a community healing circle. What began as a personal path toward physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual renewal eventually became a calling. Laura later took over the healing circle and transformed it into a donation-based gathering, making wellness practices more accessible to others. Her continued education and practice led her to become a Reiki Master and explore a wide range of holistic modalities.
Today, Laura is developing Calm Crow Healing Sanctuary on a recently purchased farm, with a vision of offering immersive retreats where guests can pause, reconnect with themselves and nature, and experience meaningful restoration. The sanctuary will incorporate practices such as Reiki, massage, reflexology, sound baths, craniosacral work, tarot, cacao ceremonies, ear seeding, herbal tincture sessions, fire releasing ceremonies, and equine wellness experiences involving horses, mini donkeys, and a mule. Her approach is shaped by her own experience with healing and by a belief that transformation can begin with small, intentional choices. Through retreats, healing circles, and Reiki education, Laura hopes to create welcoming environments where people can reflect, recharge, and discover practices that support their own journeys.
Alongside her work in wellness, Laura brings extensive experience in brand strategy, communications, creative direction, and event management. As Director at ReSource Pro, she leads brand and communications initiatives, oversees creative professionals, develops marketing and digital assets, and plays a key role in producing large-scale client events. Her earlier career includes serving as Head of Content/Creative at ATPCO, working as an art director and graphic designer, and teaching visual arts at the middle-school level. A graduate of Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, Laura combines creative leadership with entrepreneurial vision and a commitment to continued learning. Across both her professional and healing work, she draws on resilience, openness, and a desire to help others experience the kind of transformation that changed the trajectory of her own life.

Ten minutes with Laura
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience, continuous learning, and staying open to where my experiences lead me. My journey into healing began with a community healing circle and grew through education, mentorship, practice, and becoming a Reiki Master. The lessons I gained through personal challenges taught me the power of intentional choices, perspective, and growth, while my professional experience in branding, communications, and leadership has helped me build my wellness work. Most importantly, I believe in continuing to learn, evolve, and use what I have experienced to create meaningful opportunities for healing and transformation in others.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to continue learning and develop more than one area of expertise. Reiki opened the door for me, but a mentor encouraged me to explore reflexology, which expanded how I could serve others. That experience taught me the value of mentorship, staying open to growth, and not feeling like I need to know everything from the beginning. I also believe in protecting my mindset and making space for stillness through practices like meditation, healing circles, and Reiki shares.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women entering this industry to stay curious, continue learning, explore different modalities, and seek out mentors who can guide and support them. Most importantly, don’t underestimate the power of starting with one small step. Your own healing journey can become a valuable source of wisdom and strength that you can eventually share with and use to support others.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I see tremendous opportunity in making holistic wellness more accessible and helping people care for themselves physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Retreats, healing circles, Reiki shares, meditation, and nature-based experiences can give people meaningful opportunities to slow down and reconnect. I believe the greatest opportunity is to create welcoming, inclusive spaces where people can explore different approaches to healing without feeling intimidated or excluded.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are compassion, authenticity, connection, healing, and service. I believe in creating spaces grounded in acceptance, mindfulness, respect, and empowerment, where people feel safe to pause, reflect, and begin their own transformation. Above all, I value using what I have learned through my own journey to help others find greater balance, hope, resilience, and possibility.
