Her Interview
Ten minutes with Laura
01What do you attribute your success to?
I have an incredible inner drive. I'm very self-motivated, but honestly, a very strong connection to God, as I understand God. Without taking the time to pray and meditate and connect to God, I think that my life would just run amok. So stay on course with the things that I know that I have been gifted in by staying connected to God. And that really is where all of my success comes from.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever had was from a business coach who said, don't be afraid, just do it. He wanted me to write a book. I was really afraid because I didn't consider myself a writer. But I did it even though I was afraid, and I didn't know what I was doing. That was the catapult for me into my success. I went on to write 10 more books after that and now coach dozens of other people.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Learn everything you can about the field that you want to go into. Everything. Consume videos, talk to people who are already in the field. Do not be afraid of your competition, because you can learn from them.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
A lot of the challenges are that employers don't understand the value that I'm able to bring to them. I need to learn to overcome some of those objections better.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty and transparency are the absolute most important. My audience knows if I'm not being honest. Nobody is going to trust me if I'm not honest and transparent. I really value that from others, from my guests, from my clients. I can't help you if you're not going to be honest with me.
