Her Story
About Laura Beth
Laura Beth Lancaster has built a career defined by resilience, adaptability, and a steady commitment to supporting her family. She began her professional journey in Georgia, working at Ingalls Supermarket where she advanced from cashier to back-office responsibilities, including balancing tills and assisting with daily financial closeouts. Alongside this role, she worked at Chateau Lawn Spa in administrative positions, gaining experience in billing, scheduling, and customer service. Her early career reflected a strong work ethic and a willingness to grow into new responsibilities wherever needed.
As her family responsibilities evolved, Laura transitioned into roles that allowed her to be more present for her children while continuing to provide for them. She earned her CDL and worked long hours driving concrete trucks before shifting into school transportation, where she served as a bus driver for Hall County Schools in Georgia. In 2011, she moved to Florida and joined Flagler County Schools Transportation Department. There, she advanced into an office-based role as bookkeeper and payroll administrator, managing payroll and financial records for over 100 employees for nearly a decade, demonstrating precision, reliability, and organizational skill in a high-responsibility environment.
Following a deeply challenging workplace experience that led to a significant personal and health impact, Laura stepped away from her long-term role in 2019. That period became a turning point in her life, shifting her focus toward healing and advocacy. She has since become a digital creator and advocate focused on mental health awareness, survivor support, and systemic accountability in healthcare and workplace environments. Today, she uses her voice and lived experience to support others facing similar struggles, while continuing to pursue opportunities that align with her skills, resilience, and commitment to meaningful impact.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Laura Beth
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience and my commitment to transforming pain into purpose and advocacy. After a pivotal life experience in 2019 while working at the Flagler Schools Transportation Department, I chose not to be defined by trauma but to use my voice to support survivors and promote mental health awareness. Through digital content creation and community outreach, I strive to empower others to share their stories safely and with dignity, while helping create supportive spaces where healing, validation, and connection can take place.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my mother, whose Cherokee heritage deeply shaped the way she raised me. From an early age, she taught me that I am a warrior and encouraged me to meet life with strength, resilience, courage, and determination, no matter the challenges I face. She reminded me that nothing should stop me and that I can achieve anything I set my mind to. That mindset became the foundation for how I lead, overcome adversity, and pursue my purpose. I carry that warrior spirit with me in all that I do—standing firm in the face of challenges and using my experiences not only to push forward but also to advocate for and support others along the way.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to pursue their dreams fearlessly and stay committed, even when the path feels uncertain or challenging. I encourage them to not let anyone stand in their way, to recognize their value, trust their voice, and stay focused on their purpose. Challenges will come, but they should be seen as temporary obstacles rather than barriers, and never allowed to derail their direction. By remaining resilient, authentic, and confident in who they are, and staying open to the guidance and lessons along the way, they can create meaningful change, inspire others, and build a life and purpose they are truly proud of.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is addressing the stigma surrounding sexual assault and mental health while helping survivors feel safe enough to share their experiences and seek support. I have also witnessed concerns around how individuals with mental health conditions are sometimes perceived within healthcare settings, which can impact how their symptoms are evaluated and addressed, reinforcing the need for greater awareness, compassion, and patient advocacy. At the same time, I see a significant opportunity in using digital platforms and community engagement to raise awareness, build supportive spaces, and amplify survivor voices. As a digital creator and advocate, I am committed to fostering education, encouraging open dialogue, and supporting efforts that strengthen care, protection, and understanding for those navigating these challenges.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My core values in both my work and personal life are grounded in faith, compassion, empathy, and authenticity. I maintain a strong spiritual foundation and believe that God provides guidance and signs throughout life, which helps me stay grounded and intentional in my decisions. Family is at the center of everything I do and inspires my commitment to advocacy, empowerment, and supporting others so they feel seen, heard, and valued. I also place a strong emphasis on kindness and non-judgment, recognizing that every individual carries unique experiences and challenges that deserve understanding and respect. I am deeply committed to standing up for those who are vulnerable or mistreated and using my voice to advocate for fairness, safety, and dignity. Through genuine connection and a heart-led approach to helping others, I strive to create spaces where people can heal, grow, and live authentically.
