Laylo S'word is a songwriter, recording artist, certified music producer, and audio engineer whose passion for music has shaped a dynamic career spanning recording, broadcasting, and digital media. With six years of experience in the music industry, she has established herself as an independent artist who oversees every stage of her creative process—from songwriting and recording to mixing and mastering in her personal studio. Her technical expertise in Ableton Live, Logic Pro, and Pro Tools allows her to produce professional-quality music while maintaining complete creative control over her work. Alongside her music career, Smith has built a growing online presence through live streaming and social media, where she connects with an expanding audience of fans and supporters. Smith's career began in radio after a live performance led to volunteer opportunities at a local station, where she quickly advanced from on-air talent to lead program director. She currently serves as Program Director and hosts The Laylo Show on KBSH 95.1 FM, combining her love of music with community engagement and broadcasting. Her accomplishments include earning the highest number of votes in a Too Hot Radio contest, which led to her first concert performance in New Orleans, as well as securing marketing support through Velpo Music. As an independent artist, she continues to write, record, and release original music while developing multiple projects and expanding her reach through live-streaming platforms, where she has grown a TikTok following of more than 20,000 @layloshowtime. Driven by faith, Smith credits her journey to a calling from God to pursue music and to inspire others through messages of hope and perseverance. She is motivated by the desire to make her family proud while using her platform to encourage positivity and meaningful connection. Guided by values of honesty, loyalty, truth, fairness, equality, justice, peace, and compassion, she approaches both her professional and personal life with integrity and a spirit of service. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my faith and the purpose God placed on my heart. Six years ago, I felt called to use my voice to sing, and I've been committed to that calling ever since. Above all, I hope to make the world a better place through my music and remind people that they are never alone.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Listen more. Speak less.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to pray.. everyday. Let it be the first thing you do and the last. Thank God for another glorious day ask him to watch over you and your loved ones while ye sleep so that you may successfully create dreams that will manifest into reality beautifully as you wish them to be and so shall they become. Never give up on something you cant go a day living without. Without God, dreams cease to exist. Everything ceases to exist. Never give up on God, because God will never give up on us. The end is coming is near yes but it isnt today. Today is only the beginning. Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Stay true to your passion, persevere through challenges, and never settle for less than what you deserve or what you're capable of achieving; and know my dear that you.. you can achieve anything. All things are possible through Christ and by faith come what may as you stand alone sometimes.. know that you are never alone.... and thats on God yo.. I believe in you. Do you believe in you? 04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Right now the biggest opprtunity in 2026 thus far has got to be the Timberland Orbiiit Global Talent Showcase. This time they took it to a whole other level. All artist from all genres and all backgrounds from all countries have been invited to showcase their music. Singers, songwriters, producers, and rappers are showing off their skills and sharing ONE song as they attempt to advance to the next round. We just made it to round 3. $100,000 in cash prizes is on the line and i believe we have a chance to perform at the live showcase. Who knows maybe even be the one that wins, and gets to record with Timberland himself in the studio and work with Orbiiit. 10 artist will make it through and only a select fewwill be featured on Timberlands new album. Stakes are high.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me are truth, respect, loyalty, equality, justice, compassion, and peace and love but most of all I value life. Life is precious. All lives matter. My faith and my family are at the center of everything I do—they guide my decisions and give my life purpose. I strive to be a peacemaker, leading with integrity, treating others with kindness, and working to make a positive difference wherever I can. I say lets love and be loved. love love love love
