Her Story

About Lauren

Lauren Augustine brings nearly two decades of financial expertise to her role as Senior Accountant at Dover Fueling Solutions in the Round Rock/Austin area. In her current position, she leads critical revenue and accounts receivable operations, enforces internal controls and segregation of duties for a publicly traded organization, and directs a third-party AR team for credit holds and collections.

Lauren’s accounting career began unexpectedly in 2007 as a receptionist for a local family-owned door business. Demonstrating immediate aptitude and initiative, she was promoted to accounts receivable, launching a systematic trajectory of professional growth. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Western Governors University in June 2024 and is on track to complete her Master of Science in Accounting, with a concentration in Management Accounting, within the coming year. Upon graduation, she plans to sit for the CPA exam. She is also an active student member of both the AICPA and the Texas Society of CPAs.

Grounded in the strong work ethic of her blue-collar upbringing, Lauren leads with honesty and transparency across all endeavors. Deeply invested in her local community, she volunteers with Backpack Friends to help combat childhood food insecurity and regularly participates in 5K walks supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lauren

01What do you attribute your success to?

I credit my success to the strong foundation my family built for me. Raised in a large, blue-collar family, my father instilled in me the belief that nothing is out of reach if you're willing to work for it. That work ethic and the ongoing support of my family are what keep me motivated to overcome obstacles and keep growing.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Don't let fear keep you quiet in important rooms, and treat every person you meet with the same genuine respect, whether they're the janitor or the CFO. You never know who will teach you your next great lesson. I've built my career on leading with confidence, staying humble enough to learn from everyone, and treating people right.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

While formal education builds your foundation, real growth as an accountant comes from hands-on experience and the people around you. Early on, focus on active listening and absorbing knowledge from colleagues at every level. Once you understand the landscape, speak up with confidence. Listening builds your expertise; using your voice builds your influence.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

It is an incredible market for accountants right now, especially as about 75% of active CPAs have reached retirement age without enough new professionals in the pipeline to replace them. That demand creates immense opportunity, particularly for mid level talent like staff and senior accountants. My best advice is to stay open to unexpected opportunities, even when you are not actively looking for a change. Sometimes those are the exact moments that allow you to make significant leaps forward in your career.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty and transparency are the nonnegotiables for me, both professionally and personally. In accounting, you have to look at everything with a curious, analytical eye to ensure total accuracy and trust. I live my daily life by that same standard, believing that leading with transparency builds strong, authentic connections in any environment.
