About Lauren
Lauren Bang is a finance professional who entered the industry this summer. She currently works as an internal wholesaler on the sales desk at BNY in New York. Prior to this, she worked in Tokyo for a Japanese company developing instruments and machines for optometrists and ophthalmologists, where she handled branding and business development with global teams. Her career path was shaped by studies in epidemiology during college amid the COVID-19 pandemic, followed by graduate studies in Japan focusing on East Asia and U.S. policy, and later history. This built on an early interest in public health sparked in high school.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I think the obvious answer would be my family. They've definitely been giving me the space to figure out what I want to do and just like an open line of communication and being a great sounding board. Also my experiences abroad have been very colorful. I've moved a lot ever since graduating high school and every new place has helped me adapt to new situations quicker.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
For finance I feel like there are growing numbers of women especially younger women in finance. My advice would just be to like reach out to other women because I think that culture is there's a lot of competition I think we're pitted against each other but I think if we stop doing that so much we could make it a lot farther.
