Her Story

About Lauren

I received my BFA in Arts, primarily in dance, from Long Island University in New York in 2007, which was nothing in the industry that I'm in now. Being in the dance field and a gymnast my entire life, I went straight out of college and into a gymnastics center. The institution I worked with was a franchise, and the headquarters really built a presence around their leaders and made sure that they understood everything. As the operational manager for that gym, they taught me all about marketing and advertising for their company, and they gave me a love for marketing and advertising. I moved to South Florida and had an opportunity to jump fields. It was a random jump from working with a gymnastics center for over 10 years, leading the teams and building the sales growth, to then going into a totally different industry, working with a cruise line. I was able to get my in because I have always loved travel, and I started off small, working with our destinations team. From there, working closely with the marketing team to market the new product for our river cruise at the time, they saw a vision in me and gave me the growth to be able to continue in marketing in that cruise line. I've kind of come full circle, because the first cruise line that I worked with is now who I'm working with again. I know Crystal was an amazing company that had a long-standing excellence in the industry, and after COVID, the company unfortunately closed. An amazing company called Abercrombie and Kent purchased them, and so we've partnered with them to regrow Crystal. I was hired back as the Senior Trade Marketing Manager for the Americas and LATAM, which is our Latin America offices. Being able to come back here to be the trade marketing manager for a company that saw the potential and growth in me when I first started with the destination team has come full circle. Being able to help grow that channel and get to know the partners through all of the different departments that I've worked for throughout Crystal has really helped me get to where I am today.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being able to intentionally communicate more thoughtfully and trust myself and my leadership role. I understand that it's more about presence and mindset than about action and deliverables. Getting to really understand our partner and what their needs are, and being able to help them grow successfully is what I've been able to attribute my success to. I've had to learn how to stay confident and listen to what I believe in, knowing our partners and what drives each of them individually, and to be successful for them. I know that it's not just about one campaign or one result, it's like the little moments being created that the brand and people connect to it.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My top three values are family, influence, and accountability. Family has remained a value in my life. I'm very close with my family, and I feel that my family and culture has helped push me to the woman that I am today. We're a very female-led family with very strong, influential women, and so that has always pushed me to be able to achieve more than what my family before me has achieved. I value my influence and my kindness. The way that I'm able to shape outcomes and strategy and perception is very important to me, and so I always try to be an outstanding human being when I'm working, and just in life, and the partnerships that I have, whether it's with our partners, our fellow co-workers and employees, or just the people that I meet in everyday life. Being able to be an influential person is important to me. Accountability is also of value to me. I hold myself accountable to my own achievements and goals, always striving harder for whatever I do, no matter what company I work for, and just holding myself accountable and continuing to grow and push myself.
