Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lauren

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to staying curious, working hard, and genuinely caring about the people I have the opportunity to partner with. In business development, success is built on understanding people, asking the right questions, and creating relationships based on trust. I’ve learned that the strongest partnerships come from listening first, being willing to continuously learn, and following through on every commitment I make. Ultimately, I believe my growth has come from consistently showing up, bringing value to every conversation, and always prioritizing relationships over transactions.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

For me, I would say the best career advice I’ve ever received, especially starting out early in my career, is to be open to every opportunity and not wait until you feel completely ready. Some of the biggest opportunities I’ve had came from saying yes before I had everything completely figured out. I’ve learned that confidence isn’t something you need to have before taking on a challenge—it’s something you build through experience, growth, and continuously learning along the way.

Another piece of advice that has really shaped me is understanding that relationships are some of the greatest investments you can make in your career. The trust you build, the people you learn from, and the connections you create can open doors you never expected. I believe that leading with curiosity, authenticity, and a willingness to help others will always create opportunities for growth.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

For young women entering healthcare business development, my biggest advice would be to never underestimate the value you bring to the conversation. This industry is built on understanding people, solving complex challenges, and creating meaningful partnerships, and your ability to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and bring a fresh perspective is a true strength.

Especially early in your career, don't be afraid to speak up, take ownership, and put yourself in rooms where you may be the newest person there. You don't have to have every answer right away—what matters is being curious, staying prepared, and having the confidence to learn.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me most, both personally and professionally, are curiosity, connection, balance, family, and a commitment to serving others. Studying abroad in Barcelona sparked my passion for travel, learning from different cultures, and building relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, which has shaped the way I approach both life and my career.

I also believe in the importance of maintaining balance and making time for the things that keep me grounded. Staying active through yoga, working out, and spending time outdoors helps me stay energized, focused, and present. Additionally, my experience working as a bartender and server played a meaningful role in developing my communication and relationship-building skills while teaching me the importance of empathy, authenticity, and creating positive experiences for every person I interact with.
