Her Story

About Lauren

Lauren Breden is the Director of Brand Experience at Behavioral Essentials, a leadership consulting firm, where she has worked for about 10 years. She began her tenure part-time while working as a classical singer and transitioned to full-time as the company grew from a small family business founded by her father into a team with multiple members. Breden holds a bachelor's degree in vocal performance and music from the University of New Mexico and a master's of music from the University of Redlands in California. Although her formal education focused on music, she developed expertise in brand and marketing design through self-directed learning and informal coursework. She has taken on increasing responsibilities, including leading a small team of independent contractors as Director of Brand and Marketing. Breden credits her professional achievements to her persistence, resilience, endurance, and proactivity, noting that she is also a perfectionist. She values connection with people and creating beautiful experiences through her work in design, events, and web projects. Her career path demonstrates a willingness to trust the journey and embrace opportunities, advice she extends to young women entering the field by encouraging them to figure things out independently and run into challenges.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lauren

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think my persistence and my resilience, my endurance, my proactivity. I'm also a perfectionist, which has both its good side and its bad side.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I would just say to trust in the path, to trust in where you end up. I definitely took a different path through college and out of college. Not feeling like you have to figure it all out all at once. It just kind of happens. You end up in the right place at the right time when you need to be. As well as saying yes to opportunities.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be afraid to figure it out. One of our core values at our company is run into the storm. There's so much that you can figure out on your own. You can make your way just learning and taking advantage of the resources online now, and just doing it.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I'd say connection with people is definitely out there for me. I also really have a huge value for beauty, and that's often in music and in my design work. I often find myself creating experiences, whether it's on web or events or a number of different things that I do in my job that really create beautiful experiences for people.
