Her Story

About Lauren

Lauren Florea, AIC, is the Property and Casualty Claims Manager at Southland Industries, where she leads the management of complex, multi-line claims spanning workers' compensation, auto, general liability, builders risk, and employment practices liability, with particular emphasis on data center construction projects. She works closely with risk management, legal, human resources, safety, and operational leadership to shape claim strategies, interpret policy language, and guide litigation and settlement decisions. Beyond individual claims, she analyzes loss trends to support executive reporting and proactive risk mitigation.

Florea brings 16 years of industry experience, beginning with 13 years at Liberty Mutual, where she progressed to Senior Claims Specialist II and handled more than 150 high-severity workers' compensation claims, including catastrophic and litigated cases. She later served as a Senior Associate in Insurance and Risk Management at HITT Contracting, managing a diverse claims portfolio, advising project teams nationwide, and strengthening subcontractor insurance compliance and risk transfer. Across her career, she has partnered with carriers, brokers, and defense counsel to achieve efficient outcomes, and she is recognized for balancing big-picture thinking with close attention to detail.

A graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a degree in business administration, accounting and finance, Florea holds the Associate in Claims designation and is pursuing her CPCU and ARM designations. She credits her success to curiosity, a sincere commitment to her field, and a belief in the value of her work. Guided by humility, kindness, and precision, she advocates for earlier collaboration among owners, contractors, brokers, and carriers, and for giving risk management a seat at the executive table. She encourages those entering the industry to listen actively, ask questions, and stay close to strong mentors.
