Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lauren

01What do you attribute your success to?

My faith, and also just knowing that your self is the limit, like there's nothing that can stop you unless you stop yourself. I've also been of the mindset since I was very young of, if there's a problem, don't just complain about it if you can fix it or do something to fail.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The worst someone can tell you is no.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Trust your instincts. And be willing to learn, and don't come into the field thinking you know everything. Also, don't be discouraged, because there's not many women. Like, that's not a... That shouldn't be your, you know, determining factor.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

As a prosecutor, dealing with crimes from speaking to first-degree murder, there's a lot of weight. We have to make sure we can prove a case, and a lot of times we don't end up with an outcome that we wanted, based on either the way the law is, or the way the case facts are. But also, the most rewarding aspect is the ability to directly impact someone's life.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My faith is very big, but also integrity, and truly, the cliche golden rule of treat others so you won't be treated, that's going to get you farther in life than anything.
