About Lauren

Lauren Parker serves as a Talent Acquisition Manager focused on education. After graduating from Rowan University in 2021 with a major in public relations and a minor in strategic communication, she began her career as a tutor in Newark, New Jersey, where she supported scholars in an urban community and served as a role model. Parker transitioned into talent acquisition, drawing on her passion for people-centered work to manage full-cycle recruitment processes, including intake meetings with hiring managers, resume reviews, interviews, and job postings. She attributes her success to her family, who emphasized the value of knowledge and encouraged her to trust the journey. Parker values authenticity, compassion, integrity, respect, and balance in both her professional and personal life. She advises young women entering the field to own their voice, advocate for themselves, and volunteer for opportunities that stretch them.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lauren

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my family, the ones that have paved the way for me. My mom, my father, and other family members have always reminded me that no one can ever take away your knowledge. They've kept me grounded and reminded me to trust the journey.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Advocate for yourself, stay true to who you are, and understand that your career doesn't have to follow one straight path. Every experience has something to teach you. It really matters how you treat people.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Own your voice, no matter where you're at or what age you are. Don't wait for a title or permission. Listen and learn but also share your perspective. Ask the question, share ideas, advocate for yourself, and volunteer for opportunities that scare you a little bit.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The challenge is finding people who understand the responsibility that comes with serving our communities, students, and scholars, and who are willing to stay and build relationships. This creates opportunities as people change careers and realize their skills translate to education, allowing us to find connections and help people grow into roles where they can pour into the next generation.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Authenticity, compassion, integrity, respect, and balance.
