Her Story

About Lauren

I started in the property management industry about 15 years ago when I was a cheerleader and one of my fellow cheerleaders, who was an assistant manager at a property, told me they were looking for a leasing agent. I said I could do that, and I leased the property up in less than a month. We were sitting at like 98% for a good six months, and they told me I was doing great. I honestly didn't know what I was doing, but we were good, so I kept doing it. I'm originally from Laredo, Texas, and after doing leasing there for a few years, I decided to move to San Antonio because opportunities were better. I got promoted right away and was an assistant for a good amount of years, became a manager for a good amount of years, and then became a regional for the last three years. I became a regional manager around 2023 with Asset Living, overseeing up to seven properties, and all my properties were in the 90s, which was a great accomplishment, especially for the crazy market. Currently, I took a manager role in the medical center area to assist a friend of mine after my previous property sold. I'm working on day-to-day operations in a lease-up status, focusing on improving occupancy and decreasing delinquency to make that asset successful.

Ten minutes with Lauren

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think having a really good team next to me has been the key to my success. I've had the same people working with me for probably three to five years, and my assistant and others have followed me from property to property. I can honestly say that the success is the team behind me. Having that consistent, dedicated team has made all the difference in achieving the results we've accomplished together.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Keep going, keep pushing, don't stop. You can always get to where you want to be. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication, but don't throw in the towel. You can cry, but you cannot throw in the towel. No matter how challenging things get, persistence and dedication will help you reach your goals in this industry.
