Her Story

About Lauren

I've been in healthcare since 2022, when I first did my internship at Complete Health. Growing up, me and my twin sister had a lot of health problems, and we started to see those health disparities early on. We both knew that we wanted to go into healthcare and make it better. My journey was through administration, but my twin is actually in medical school. I am the Business Office Manager at the Surgical Center of the Treasure Coast, managed by SCA Health, an organization that has over 370 centers in America. I oversee our financial operations and all of our revenue cycle performance, and within this role, we've consistently achieved 100% of our cash collection goals. I also serve as interim CEO anytime our CEO has to leave or goes on PTO. I've been at the Surgical Center of the Treasure Coast since May of 2025, and I've been with SCA Health since July of 2024. What I love most about my job is being able to see the impact that me and my team have. I feel most rewarded when I'm able to see how much easier we're making it for patients to come in, to get surgery, and receive excellent care at a lower cost. That's something I've always wanted to do, and now it's something I get to see and contribute to every day. I love jumping into problems, being a problem solver, and I love not knowing what I'm gonna have to fix for the day. I think it's really exciting.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say to be humble, but hungry. I would also say to always exude confidence, even if you have to fake it. And instead of fake it till you make it, I like to say, embody it until you become it. That confidence will start to build inside of you when you're acting like that. And I would just say, with setting any kind of expectations for your team, always inspect what you expect from your team. Don't just set an expectation and then go from there. Always follow back up, see how it's going, and follow through with that.
