Her Story
About Lauri
I started off at the Department of Defense back in the 80s. Then I moved from the defense world to the civilian world and ended up at Northrop Grumman after a smaller company merged with them. We went through several mergers and acquisitions, and now I currently work for Moog, another large defense contractor. I have been in the field for 35 years.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Lauri
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to relationship building. I'm a closer, I'm a finisher. Give me a task and I get it done. I'm very direct. I lead with my heart. Treat everybody with respect.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Follow your gut. The sky's the limit. Don't ever say you can't do something. Go for whatever you want to do. Just seize the day. Just do what you want to do. Don't let anybody hold you back.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field today are the technology and how fast technology has grown, especially with AI. It's like the genie's let out of the bottle. Also how large the company has gotten with growth, systems don't talk to one another because of merging and acquisitions.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value respect and honesty.
