Her Story

About Laurie

Laurie Abernathy is a Somatic Relationship Coach and Founder of The Soul Provider, LLC, dedicated to helping individuals and couples cultivate greater self-awareness, emotional well-being, and healthier relationships. She began her coaching journey in 2011 after recognizing her natural ability to guide and encourage others, and officially established her business in 2015. Over the years, Laurie has evolved her practice to focus on somatic coaching, an approach that recognizes how stress, anxiety, and emotional experiences can be held within the body and influence communication, relationships, and overall well-being.

Through The Soul Provider, Laurie provides a compassionate and practical coaching experience designed to help clients reconnect with themselves, strengthen their relationships, and move beyond patterns that may be limiting their growth. Her holistic approach incorporates breathwork, sound healing, singing bowls, tuning forks, and Usui Reiki Level I, complemented by her recent Level 2 certifications in singing bowls, tuning forks, and breathwork coaching. Her philosophy centers on authentic connection, presence, empowerment, and realistic goal-setting, enabling clients to make meaningful changes while honoring their individual journeys.

In addition to her private practice, Laurie has served as a Personal Empowerment Mentor Coach with The Village for Families & Children, a nonprofit organization in Hartford, Connecticut, since September 2023. A single mother of three, she brings authenticity, resilience, compassion, and determination to both her personal and professional life. Laurie is also passionate about giving back to her community, including offering free sound bath experiences, and she aspires to expand her work through in-person workshops and international retreats. Her areas of specialization include somatic relationship coaching, life and wellness coaching, personal empowerment, women’s empowerment, mindset development, breathwork, sound healing, Reiki, and holistic well-being.

Ten minutes with Laurie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to authenticity, resilience, compassion, and determination. I believe in being genuine and down-to-earth while recognizing that life can be challenging and that having the right support and accountability can make a meaningful difference. I approach goal setting with realism and practicality, helping my clients establish achievable objectives while encouraging them to remain present and appreciate the journey along the way. I find great fulfillment in serving as an accountability partner and walking alongside my clients as they grow, evolve, and discover their own potential. For me, success is not simply about reaching a destination; it is about embracing the process, learning along the way, and finding purpose and joy in the journey.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to embrace my own journey of self-discovery and use what I learn to help others. My coaching path began unexpectedly while I was on maternity leave, when I watched a television program called Second Chance and discovered that life coaching could be a meaningful profession. That experience opened my mind to new possibilities and inspired me to explore holistic approaches to healing and personal growth. Through my own experiences, I have learned the importance of authenticity, self-awareness, and continuous growth, and I now share those lessons with others to help them create positive change and enrich their lives.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest opportunities in my field are creating greater access to holistic coaching and wellness services while continuing to build a sustainable coaching practice. My goal is to grow The Soul Provider, LLC into a full-time business and eventually establish a dedicated space where I can offer personalized, in-home classes and other transformative experiences. I am also passionate about making wellness accessible within my community, including offering free sound bath sessions in local parks. Ultimately, I see an opportunity to expand my services through workshops, retreats, and other experiences that empower individuals to prioritize their well-being, personal growth, and authentic connection.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are compassion, authenticity, service, personal growth, and self-care. As a single mother of three, I have learned through my own experiences that growth begins with being honest with ourselves and making space for our well-being. I find deep fulfillment in helping others discover their own strength and experience even a single “aha” moment that can create meaningful change. I am passionate about giving back to my community, particularly supporting those with servant hearts and encouraging them to prioritize self-love and self-care. Through life coaching and sound healing, I strive to empower others to live with greater purpose, balance, and presence, while continuing to grow my vision of creating transformative retreats and experiences for others.
