Her Story

About Leah

Leah Effingger serves as Assistant Manager at Enterprise, managing both a primary location and a satellite branch following her completion of the management trainee program. After graduating from Smith College in May 2024 with a Psychology major and Exercise Science minor, she began her role in July 2024 and has since focused on sales and management responsibilities. She recently started a Master's degree in Public Health at LSU Shreveport, drawing connections between her current operational experience and future healthcare applications. Effingger credits her parents for instilling the importance of college and surrounding herself with supportive networks, experiences reinforced during her time at a college prep school that broadened her perspective on achievement. She values building genuine relationships grounded in trust and respect, both in her team environment where colleagues support one another through challenges and in her personal life. Outside of work, Effingger participates in community efforts, including her family's annual Thanksgiving dinner that provides meals, donations, and gift cards to less fortunate individuals at a local school.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Leah

01What do you attribute your success to?

My parents set a good foundation by emphasizing college and surrounding myself with the right people and networking. Attending a college prep school opened my mind to new ways of thinking and success, showing me that attending top colleges and achieving big things is possible. Networking and meeting people from Ivy League schools motivated me to aim high and build lasting connections.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Slow down and take time to learn, explore, and network. Learn who you are, experience whatever you can. Make sure you're surrounded by the right people. Stay true to yourself, be nice to everyone, have an open mind to learning new things, and don't forget yourself in the process.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Biggest challenge is maneuvering a 9-to-5 schedule while developing life outside of it, juggling school and work, and maintaining work-life balance. Need to slow down and not try to figure everything out immediately. Customer service is hard to learn but valuable once mastered.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Genuine relationships and friendships built on trust and respect. In work, having each other's backs, working hard together, and picking up slack for teammates. Same applies to family and friends - being able to trust those around you.
