About Leah
Leah Turner is the founder and Chief Impact Strategist of Broader Impact Partners, based in Pflugerville, Texas. She began her career in academia in 2011 after earning a master's degree in biotechnology, working as assistant to the dean at West Virginia State University. She later obtained a PhD in higher education and held roles at Texas A&M University in athletics career development and at the University of Texas at Austin's Jackson School of Geosciences, where she led the GeoFORCE Texas program. Her path continued through nonprofits focused on hydrology and capacity building before launching her consulting firm, which specializes in broader impact requirements for federal research funding, science communication, and nonprofit capacity building through board training and development. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and serves as a founding board member of For All AI.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Follow your heart because the fields you'll be most successful in are the ones you're most passionate about. Identify opportunities that relate to your bigger mission. Build partnerships through collaboration and lifelong learning rather than recreating the wheel.
