Her Story

About LeAnn

I am an international development and program management professional with a strong background in project coordination, admissions, and foreign policy, currently serving as an Admissions Assistant at The Johns Hopkins University, a role I have held since June 2025, where I support admissions operations and contribute to the university's mission of academic excellence.

Prior to this role, I served as a Project Assistant at EnCompass LLC for nearly two years, where I supported project coordination and program management. I also served as an Africa Fellow at YPFP (Young Professionals in Foreign Policy) for nearly one year, where I contributed to foreign policy analysis and international relations, and as Senior Program Associate at the Society of International Development – U.S. for over a year, where I supported program development and project management. I also served as Program Coordinator for the Fulbright Program Management at the Institute of International Education on a contract basis for four months.

Across my career in international development, program management, and higher education, my work has been driven by a commitment to supporting global engagement, education, and cross-cultural understanding. Whether I am supporting admissions at a leading university, coordinating international development programs, or contributing to foreign policy analysis, I bring a collaborative approach, strong organizational skills, and a dedication to advancing educational and development opportunities around the world. I am proud of the work I have done throughout my career and excited to continue contributing to international education and development through my work at The Johns Hopkins University.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be afraid to put yourself out there. Don't dim your light. Speak up for yourself and make space at the table, whether it's the career table, extracurriculars, sports or music. We have a lot of power that we hold and oftentimes diminish ourselves, so take the risk.
