Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a strong sense of purpose and the belief that I’m blessed in order to be a blessing.

What I’m most proud of isn’t just the business itself—it’s the opportunities it has created for others. I’ve been able to build a team of incredible women and give them the flexibility to work in ways that support their lives. That includes a single mom who was balancing everything on her own, and another mom raising two special needs children who can now work around appointments and her family’s needs. Internally, that impact means everything to me.

Externally, my success is reflected in the agencies I support—organizations that were once on the verge of closing, now achieving deficiency-free surveys and operating with confidence. Helping agencies move from uncertainty to stability is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

At the core of everything is the patient. Having lived most of my life in rural West Virginia, I’ve seen firsthand the critical need for home health services—especially for elderly patients who are non-ambulatory, homebound, and unable to access care outside the home. My work is about more than compliance and reimbursement; it’s about ensuring agencies can remain open, sustainable, and equipped to serve the patients who depend on them most.

Over time, that commitment has not only shaped the outcomes of the agencies I serve—it has helped redefine what’s possible when compliance, quality, and purpose are aligned.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I’ve ever received was to never just do the job—understand the system. Once I learned how clinical care, documentation, compliance, and reimbursement all connect, everything changed. It allowed me to move from task-based work to strategic impact, and ultimately build a career focused on helping others do the same.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice would be to take the time to truly understand the foundation of your work—not just how to complete a task, but why it matters. In home health, everything is connected: clinical care, documentation, compliance, and reimbursement all impact patient outcomes and agency success.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions, seek out mentors, and step into opportunities that challenge you. Confidence comes with experience, but growth comes from being willing to learn. Most importantly, stay grounded in your purpose—because at the end of the day, the work we do directly impacts patients who depend on us.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The home health industry is at a pivotal point right now—what makes it exciting is the same thing that makes it challenging.

One of the biggest challenges is that demand for home-based care has never been higher, driven by an aging population and a clear preference for patients to receive care at home. However, agencies are being asked to do more with fewer resources. Workforce shortages, rising labor costs, and increasing burnout are limiting capacity, even as referrals continue to grow.

At the same time, regulatory complexity and reimbursement pressures continue to intensify. Changes to Medicare payment models and ongoing cuts create real financial strain, especially for agencies serving rural or high-need populations. This forces agencies to operate with a level of precision that wasn’t required years ago—documentation, coding, and compliance are no longer just administrative tasks; they are critical to survival.

But within those challenges lies a significant opportunity. Home health is becoming a central part of the healthcare system, with more complex care being delivered in the home and a growing shift toward value-based care models. Agencies that can adapt—by strengthening clinical documentation, leveraging technology appropriately, and improving care coordination—are positioned not just to survive, but to lead.

From my perspective, the greatest opportunity is helping agencies bridge that gap. When you align compliance, documentation, and clinical care, you don’t just improve outcomes—you create sustainability. And in today’s environment, sustainability means patients continue to have access to the care they need, where they need it most.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me are integrity, consistency, and purpose. I believe in doing the right thing—even when it’s not the easiest path—and showing up the same way every time for my clients, my team, and the patients we ultimately serve.

I also value creating opportunities for others. Being able to build a team where women can work in a way that supports their lives and families is something I take a lot of pride in.

At the core of both my work and personal life is purpose—knowing that what I do has a direct impact on patient care and access. That perspective keeps me grounded and drives every decision I make.
