Her Story
About Leigh
I work full-time as a senior advocate in member services at AAA Life Insurance Company during the day, but my true calling is in ministry and Christian counseling. I teach Bible studies on Tuesdays, host women's events (including one coming up in March), and conduct virtual and phone counseling sessions with clients. I'm completing my PhD in Christian counseling with commencement in April, and I'm also in seminary school taking biblical exposition courses. I founded Love Her Journey ministry to help women transition from difficult situations and discover their God-given identity through self-love and healing. I'm a mom raising my sons (one is currently deployed in Afghanistan), and after work, I dedicate time to scheduled appointments with those I mentor and counsel. I reach people through word of mouth, social media (primarily Facebook), and connections I make through prayer calls, Bible studies, and teachings. I volunteer with the Montgomery County Women's Shelter in Houston, Texas, working wherever they need me, whether in the store, the center with the women, counseling, or answering phones.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Purpose is revealed when we allow God to redeem what once wounded us and use it to heal others. Life has purpose, and there's always purpose in the pain that we've gone through. That is an ashes for beauty moment, which is out of the book of Isaiah 61:3. He gives us beauty for ashes, joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. The pain that we go through is not really for us, it's actually what helps heal others. So when we shift our perspective in that manner, we look at things a little bit differently. That's what helped me. I use the love that I receive from God to help heal others, wherever they are. When I allowed God to redeem what wounded me, because love was what wounded me, I could use that to help heal others, which is where Love Her Journey comes from.
