With nearly four years in the field, she specializes in building relationships with assisted living and skilled nursing facilities through events and outreach while selling home health services. Her career path began in media, where she worked as an online reporter and radio producer after earning a communications degree with a psychology minor from Texas State University and completing a college program internship at Walt Disney World. She is currently transitioning to a new Account Executive sales position in home health, driven by her passion for helping elderly patients and her own experiences with mental health and family challenges that have shaped her commitment to this work.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Leighanne

01What do you attribute your success to?

My journey has not been linear. Every little thing, including struggling with my own mental health and seeing how it connects to helping the elderly community with depression and confusion, has led me here. Switching careers completely was not easy, but the ups and downs have made me grateful and brought me to where I am now and where I plan to go.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You have to have passion for what you're doing. Without passion it feels like a job, but with it, it doesn't feel like work. I switched out of news because I had passion for helping people but wasn't passionate about the death and destruction stories. Now helping elderly patients feels like something I've been called to do.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family is very important, especially after recent situations brought us closer. My church family is also key. My husband has been a huge rock through our journey together.
