Her Story
About Leola
Leola Daul founded Heart and Soul Community Cafe in Fargo, North Dakota, 10 years ago to address food insecurity and build community connections through access to healthy, nutritious meals. Her path to this role began with a major in child development and family relations at North Dakota State University, followed by work at profit childcare centers in the Twin Cities, 11 years operating her own home childcare, and a position at Head Start as a family advocate and community partnership coordinator. Daul also attended a Dale Carnegie course and draws on these experiences to emphasize mental and physical health through positive connections at the cafe. She is a member of the Fargo-Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce, One World Everybody Eats, and the North Dakota Association of Nonprofits. Her contributions have earned her the Home Child Care Provider of the Year award, YWCA Woman of the Year for volunteer service, a Distinguished Leadership award from the Fargo-Moorhead West Fargo Chamber, and recognition of Heart and Soul as Chamber Nonprofit of the Year. Daul supports causes including suicide awareness through SAVE and FirstLink, as well as initiatives related to food insecurity and early childhood.
