Lesley Taylor
Lesley Taylor is a Marketing and Brand Leader with more than 13 years of experience, approaching 14 years in the field, specializing in brand strategy, digital marketing, and revenue-driven growth. She currently serves as Brand and Digital Manager for North America at Kempower, where she leads integrated marketing strategy across brand development, digital channels, CRM, campaigns, events, partnerships, and demand generation. In this role, she focuses on aligning creative storytelling with business performance, strengthening market presence, and driving measurable impact within the electrification and electric vehicle charging industry. Her work blends creativity and strategy to deliver marketing programs that support both brand visibility and commercial growth.
Her professional foundation is rooted in a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and Publishing from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. During her academic journey, she developed a strong passion for writing, storytelling, and publishing, which included hands-on experience in bookbinding and book production. This early exposure to full-cycle publishing sparked her interest in digital design and creative communication, ultimately leading her into marketing as a career that combines art, writing, psychology, and strategy. She began her professional journey at Performance Friction, a brake manufacturing company, where she worked in magazine advertising and design, and gained early business and customer experience that helped shape her understanding of audience engagement and brand messaging.
Throughout her career, Lesley has progressed through roles that expanded both her creative and strategic expertise, including a key position within the Powertech Division at Atlas Copco, where she deepened her experience in industrial marketing, campaign development, and brand positioning. She has also witnessed the full evolution of the marketing industry, transitioning from traditional print advertising and magazine design to today’s digital-first, data-driven, and AI-enhanced marketing landscape. Now working in electrification, a field closely aligned with her commitment to sustainability, she continues to combine innovation, leadership, and adaptability to build marketing strategies that evolve with technology while remaining grounded in strong storytelling and measurable business results.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've received is that you can always learn a new skill, but it's very hard to change your attitude. I've learned to keep a positive attitude all the time, even when it's hard, because that is invaluable to yourself and helps you respect yourself, your teammates, and your coworkers. There's nothing really ever worth losing your temper or losing your positivity over. If there are new skills to learn, you can learn them, but you can't always learn to stay positive. The soft skills and staying in that positive lane are just as important, or more important, than the technical skills you have.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say, especially right now, don't lose your creative spark. There are a lot of really good tools we can use now, but always keep that creativity alive where you can. Just keep learning and stay on top of the trends that are changing in marketing. Take time to educate yourself - you can't really improve on anything unless your foundational skills are up to date, so make time for yourself to educate yourself. Make sure that you are where you want to be, and don't lose that creative spark, no matter what.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
At work, I make sure that my team and everybody around me feels heard, listened to, and respected. I believe in treating everybody like they're people, not just machines that go to work - we all have lives outside of work. How you treat people matters, whether it's your vendors, people who work for you, or anyone you hire. It doesn't matter what they're doing for you, you treat everybody the same because everyone just wants to be happy in life, and you have to respect that. This goes for work and life in general - spreading loving-kindness. At the end of the day, we all have to try to enjoy what we're doing. If someone's having a bad day, see how you can help, step in, and try to make things easier for other people. And try to have a good time as well.
