Her Story
About Leslie
Leslie Mercado is the owner and president of Infinity Concrete and Masonry, a concrete and masonry subcontractor. She has spent about 30 years in the construction industry, including 12 years as a subcontractor. Her career began as a receptionist, progressing to project management. She co-founded her first company, All Star, with her brother after the company she worked for was closing. Following personal tragedy, she worked in the estimating department for a general contractor before starting Infinity 10 years ago with a $4,000 loan from her grandmother. She grew the business from labor-only work on houses to turnkey multifamily projects, reaching $8 million in revenue two years ago, all self-funded with no loans. Today she oversees estimating, project management, and accounting, while working to scale the company and expand beyond Florida, potentially to Puerto Rico. She is a former member of ABC and attributes her success to her drive, faith in God, and not being afraid to take chances. She values loyalty, respect, and integrity, especially as a woman navigating the construction industry.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Leslie
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my drive and to God. Not being scared to take chances has been key for me.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
One time somebody told me that if you're not going crazy in business, you're not succeeding. Last year we had our slowest year ever and I was going crazy because I was so bored and missed the excitement, and that's when I realized I understood what he meant.
