Her Interview
Ten minutes with Leslie
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to self-awareness, resilience, adaptability, and knowing both my strengths and areas where I need support. I believe successful leaders do not have to excel at everything; instead, they should surround themselves with people whose strengths complement their own. Staying true to my values and making decisions aligned with them has also been essential to my growth.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received has come through my experiences, challenges, colleagues, and clients rather than from one specific mentor. I’ve learned to stay open to learning from others, recognize that I don’t have to navigate every challenge alone, and surround myself with people whose strengths complement my own.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Know yourself, recognize your weaknesses, and surround yourself with people who can complement your strengths. Leadership can sometimes feel lonely, so be intentional about building a support system through mentors, trusted colleagues, and even tools like ChatGPT.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I see a growing opportunity to make recruiting more human and relationship-driven, focusing on long-term alignment rather than simply filling positions. Organizations need talented people, while candidates want meaningful work, strong cultures, and environments where their values are respected. My experience across sales, operations, marketing, and recruiting gives me a broad perspective on building strong teams and creating healthier, more fulfilling professional relationships.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value integrity, authenticity, self-awareness, emotional well-being, and meaningful work. I believe in treating people as individuals rather than transactions and helping them find environments where their abilities are valued. I’m also passionate about mental and emotional wellness, and I hope to use writing and public speaking to encourage greater self-belief, self-awareness, and ongoing mental health care.
