Her Interview

Ten minutes with Leslie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a combination of creativity, relationship-building, adaptability, and a commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for others. My career began in the music industry, where I spent 10 to 15 years working as a booking agent and band manager, experiences that taught me how to recognize talent, build strong relationships, navigate business opportunities, and turn ideas into reality. Over the past five years, I have brought those skills into the sports industry, founding STX Performance Athletes to create greater opportunities for young athletes, particularly those who may face barriers to participating in organized sports. I have expanded that vision by connecting athletics, entertainment, business, and education through initiatives such as international flag football tournaments, partnerships in Mexico, and the Evolution Fund, which is designed to create future scholarship opportunities. My involvement in youth sports, including years with Coaching Little League Baseball and a youth basketball has reinforced my belief in the power of athletics to teach discipline, teamwork, confidence, responsibility, and perseverance. Ultimately, I measure my success not only by what I have accomplished, but by the opportunities I can create for athletes, emerging artists, families, and communities.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received has come from my current business partner in Mexico, who has become one of my greatest mentors over the past year. As the owner of a software company and the lead owner of Evolution Flag Elite, he has given me valuable perspective on business, leadership, and the opportunities available when you are willing to think beyond traditional boundaries. His guidance has encouraged me to continue building strong partnerships, remain open to new possibilities, and pursue a vision that creates meaningful opportunities for others.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The best advice I would give young women entering the sports or music industries is to never wait for someone else to give you permission to belong in the room. Be confident in your abilities, remain resilient when you encounter challenges or preconceived perceptions, and understand that you have earned your place through your talent, dedication, and hard work. There will always be obstacles, but staying true to yourself, maintaining your authenticity, and continuing to push forward will help you overcome them and create opportunities on your own terms.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I think one of the biggest challenges in both women’s sports and the music industry is access. Getting access to funding, sponsorships, resources, exposure, and sometimes simply access to the right rooms and the right individuals. However, these challenges also create opportunities for us to create our own rooms and teams from the ground up allowing us to have full power and ownership of our projects.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are family, relationships, integrity, opportunity, growth, and service. My background in music taught me the importance of building meaningful relationships, understanding contracts and business development, recognizing talent, and creating sustainable opportunities, and I bring those same principles to my work in sports. I believe talent is only one part of an athlete’s journey, and that athletes should also have access to the knowledge, resources, and connections needed to build successful futures. Through STX Performance Athletes, the Evolution Fund, our music collaborations, and the Evolution National Flag Football Series, my goal is to create an ecosystem that provides athletes with training, exposure, recruitment opportunities, NIL resources, education, and professional development. Ultimately, I want my work to create opportunities that extend beyond a single tournament or season and help young people grow personally, professionally, and academically. It is my firm belief that everything in life occurs according to God's plan, and because of that my faith runs deep as a mother and a business owner using every platform to honor God and inspire others.
