Her Story

About Leslie

Leslie Short is the founder of The Cavu Group, where she has spent nearly seven and a half years focusing on culture development and helping CEOs shape company culture while ensuring business objectives are met. Prior to this, she is the owner of K.I.M. Media LLC, a design, production, event, and consulting business, for 26 years, bringing her total combined business ownership experience to over 26 years. Her approach to culture is informed by her first career as a classical ballet dancer, 13 years living in Europe, time in Japan, and a commitment to authenticity, equity, and inclusion that stems from her personal journey. Short is a two-time author whose book Expand Beyond Your Current Culture was nominated as one of the top 15 books by Black authors and nominated by Fast Company; her memoir was released in May Someone Has to be the First. She serves as a mentor for New York City with MasterCard and emphasizes continuous learning as both a mentor and mentee.
