Her Interview

Ten minutes with Leslie

01What do you attribute your success to?

My career has been built on a foundation of encouragement, hard work, and continuous learning. I was incredibly fortunate to have a mentor, who also owns a local title company, early in my career who saw potential in me and provided opportunities to grow from an escrow assistant into an escrow officer. Over the past two decades, I have been following her lead and remained committed to serving others with integrity and carrying forward the support and confidence that others first showed in me.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is to turn over every stone to find the answer. Research thoroughly, study the examination materials, collaborate with your underwriters, and never stop asking questions. The ultimate goal is to get your client to the closing table successfully, and careful preparation is the key to making that happen.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women to consider the title industry because it has been one of the best career decisions I have ever made. It has provided for my family while allowing me to build a meaningful career serving others. Although the work is demanding and can be stressful, it is also incredibly rewarding. Stay committed to learning, embrace the challenges, and recognize that this profession offers tremendous opportunities for personal growth, career advancement, and making a lasting difference in people's lives.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges facing our industry is preparing and training the next generation of professionals, particularly younger women, to succeed in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. They must learn how to identify potential issues, think critically, and confidently manage complex transactions. At the same time, the opportunities are significant. This profession allows you to serve others, build a successful career, earn a strong living, and continue advancing into leadership roles while making a meaningful impact on your clients and your community.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Ethics, character, and integrity are the foundation of everything we do. In the title industry, people trust us with some of the most important financial transactions of their lives, and that responsibility requires honesty, professionalism, and accountability. I believe doing the right thing, providing exceptional service, and treating every client with care are essential to earning and maintaining that trust.
