Leticia Guyton
As the founder of the As I Grow brand—an ecosystem rooted in healing, service, and storytelling. What began as the internationally recognized As I Grow Podcast has expanded into a professional cleaning service, community advocacy, and a body of published work that includes Grow With Me (memoir), Journey to Calm (self-help), and children’s books Locs of Love and Brave Hearts, all centered on resilience, identity, and emotional wellness.
Through my cleaning business, I proudly partner with Cleaning for a Reason, providing free services to individuals undergoing cancer treatment, reinforcing my belief that care extends beyond words into action. I am currently pursuing my second master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, where I have been a Dean’s List recipient every semester, preparing to serve individuals and families with culturally responsive, compassionate care.
My most meaningful role, however, is being the mother of two incredible boys, who inspire everything I build. At my core, I am committed to growth, representation, and turning lived experience into purpose.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience, faith, and an unwavering commitment to growth. Every challenge I’ve faced—personally and professionally—has shaped my purpose rather than diminished it. I’ve learned to turn lived experience into impact, staying disciplined while remaining compassionate.
Equally important, I credit my success to community and motherhood. My two sons are my greatest motivation, grounding me in why the work matters. Success, for me, isn’t measured by titles alone, but by alignment—showing up authentically, serving with intention, and continuing to grow even when the journey is hard.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
he best career advice I’ve ever received is to build with purpose, not just for profit or titles. When your work aligns with who you are and what you’re called to do, sustainability and impact follow. I was also taught not to shrink myself to fit systems that weren’t designed for me, but instead to create spaces where my voice, values, and experiences are assets. That advice has guided me to lead authentically, pivot when necessary, and trust the process of growth.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women entering this industry to trust their voice and honor their lived experience—it is not a weakness, it is your superpower. Learn the fundamentals, seek mentorship, and stay committed to excellence, but don’t feel pressured to sacrifice your values or authenticity to be accepted.
Be patient with your growth and courageous with your boundaries. There will be spaces that underestimate you—let them. Focus on building work that is aligned, impactful, and sustainable. Most importantly, remember that success is not linear, and you are allowed to evolve as you grow.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
In the fields I work in—mental health, personal development, and entrepreneurial leadership—the biggest challenges and opportunities often sit side by side:
Challenges
- Access and Equity: Mental health care and quality development resources are still not equitably available, especially for communities of color and underserved populations. There’s a real need to bridge gaps in access, affordability, and culturally responsive care.
- Noise vs. Value: With so much content and so many voices online, it can be difficult for meaningful work to rise above the noise. Authentic voices can get overshadowed by trends that prioritize virality over depth.
- Burnout Culture: So many driven women push themselves to the point of exhaustion because hustle is often mistaken for success. Balancing ambition with self-care is a real and ongoing challenge.
Opportunities
- Holistic Wellness Integration: People are increasingly seeking wellness that honors the mind, body, and spirit—this creates space for voices that offer depth, compassion, and evidence-based insight. My background in mindfulness, therapy studies, and service positions me well in this space.
- Purpose-Led Entrepreneurship: There’s growing energy around businesses that center community impact, not just profit. Partnerships like we have with Cleaning for a Reason show how service can be woven into sustainable business models.
- Representation and Innovation: There’s a powerful opportunity for more women—especially women of color—to shape the future of mental health, storytelling, and leadership. Women with lived experience are redefining what “expertise” looks like.
What excites me most is that these challenges are not barriers—they are invitations to innovate, serve, and lead in ways that make this work accessible, authentic, and transformative for generations to come.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are integrity, compassion, faith, growth, and service. Integrity keeps me aligned—ensuring that how I show up publicly matches who I am privately. Compassion guides how I lead, create, and care for others, especially those navigating hardship or healing.
I value growth because I believe we are always evolving, and our willingness to learn is what keeps us grounded and impactful. Service is central to everything I do, whether through my work, advocacy, or community partnerships. Above all, my values are anchored in faith and family—being present, purposeful, and leading by example for my two sons.
