Her Interview
Ten minutes with Letonya
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My quality manager denied me a supervisor interview initially. Later she explained that the job is more than technical - you manage processes but you lead people. You have to partner with people, get your team's buy-in, and be a champion of the people, not just the process. That shifted my perspective and I've led with heart for people ever since.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
This is a male-dominated field. Be secure in who you are. Walk boldly, be confident in your ability. Do not allow the noise or intimidation to change you. You were created soft and feminine. Go in knowing who you are as a woman leader. Be confident because they already know your capabilities if you got the job.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My values for my work and my personal life is my character and my integrity. Those two are so important to me. Because of the responsibility given to us as leaders, if you don't have character and integrity, you are not going to lead well.
