About Lexa
Lexa Rijos has dedicated 24 years to healthcare as a nurse, starting as a frontline bedside nurse in 2002 before returning to school to earn her nurse practitioner degree in 2008. She has spent 15 years with her current care delivery organization, where she now serves as Associate Director and Director of Nurse Practitioner Hospitalists, becoming the first nurse practitioner in that role at her company after four years in leadership positions. Specializing in hospital medicine, Lexa spends half her time providing direct patient care as a hospitalist and the other half leading initiatives to improve workflows and patient outcomes for teams across three cities. She is a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine, serves as a committee member of the Texas Nurse Practitioners Association, and belongs to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Optum Woman in Medicine group, and local hospital system councils. Lexa attributes her success to dedication, passion, strong mentors, family, and community, along with a proactive approach when opportunities arise, and she draws strength from her experiences as an endurance athlete. She is inspired by a desire to work with integrity and leave every place better than she found it.

Work with integrity. Do things because you believe they're the right thing to do, do your best, and try to leave the place better than when you found it.
