About Lilia
Lilia Hueso serves as a school counselor with 8 years of experience, focusing on helping first-generation students in grades 9-12 recognize their value and pursue opportunities such as high school graduation, university, or technical school. Drawing from her own path as a first-generation college student and teen mom who became the first in her family to earn a bachelor's and master's degree, she emphasizes perseverance and belief in students' potential. Hueso graduated from Highline High School in 2006, earned an associate's degree from Green River Community College, a bachelor's degree in American Ethnicity Studies with a minor in Education and Society Learning from the University of Washington, and a Master's in School Counseling from Gonzaga University. She belongs to professional organizations including WASCA, WASAC, and AWSL, and serves on the Gonzaga Future School Counselors board and the dual credit board. Her contributions have been recognized with the Para Los Ninos community service award and the AWSL Spotlight Award for Student Engagement. Hueso also volunteers with Para Los Ninos, Columbia Basin Art Museum, and Omani in Moses Lake.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I will help her through the journey... build up her why, because there's like if she knows her strong why is she doing? So no matter what happens during her journey... she can always connect her why and not give up that easy. And help her search for schools, search for the process.
