Lillian Mosley, Esq., MBA, is a New York–based attorney and civic leader whose practice centers on elder law, guardianship, and estate planning. She is a Partner at Ferreira & Mosley, LLC, where she is committed to protecting the dignity, rights, and assets of older adults and vulnerable individuals. Lillian serves as a Part 36 fiduciary, advocating for hospitalized or incapacitated persons while guiding families through complex guardianship proceedings and long-term planning.

Her work is distinguished by a client-centered, interdisciplinary approach that integrates legal advocacy with a strong social-service sensibility.

Lillian began her legal career in the New York State court system as an Assistant Law Clerk to a Supreme Court Justice who was later elevated to the Appellate Division, Second Department. She transitioned fully into trusts and estates and guardianship practice, achieving partnership in her own firm within six years of law school, an accomplishment she regards as a defining professional milestone. Her commitment to community extends beyond her practice: she was a candidate for Long Beach City Council, narrowly missing election in a close race that further deepened her local engagement.

A graduate of the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University (J.D.) and Adelphi University (MBA), Lillian holds significant leadership roles across the legal profession. She serves as President of the Puerto Rican Bar Association (2026–2028), Vice President of the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association and its Foundation, and Co-Chair of the New York Women’s Bar Association Elder Law Committee. Lillian pairs legal expertise with inclusive leadership, mentoring emerging attorneys and advocating passionately for the rights, autonomy, and well-being of seniors and vulnerable adults.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to sustained hard work, focus, and a deep commitment to both my clients and my community. Becoming a partner in my own firm just six years after law school stands out as my proudest professional milestone; partnership often comes much later in one’s career, so achieving it at that stage affirmed the dedication and long hours invested along the way. To be recognized in this way is both humbling and energizing.

I am also deeply engaged in community and professional service through the Puerto Rican Bar Association, the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association, and the New York Women’s Bar Association’s Elder Law Committee. Through this work, we support scholarships for Latinx law students and raise funds for breast cancer initiatives in Nassau County, efforts that make my professional journey especially meaningful.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

You can have a successful career and make a difference in the lives of others and in your community.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You too can be successful in a career in the legal system. Stay the course, nothing worthwhile will ever be easy!

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest challenges, and unexpected gifts, of my work is meeting the ever-growing need for advocacy while protecting space for the parts of life that keep me grounded. Elder law and guardianship practice demand constant responsiveness to people in crisis, yet I’ve learned that sustaining this work also means nurturing my own well-being and joy, whether that’s time with family or losing myself on the dance floor.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I am deeply drawn to working with older adults and helping them put thoughtful plans in place, whatever those plans may be, while collaborating with families who want to support the next generation and preserve what they’ve built. I’m especially passionate about this field because it sits at the intersection of law and social work; it allows me to advocate holistically and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. In my role as a an advocate, I am able to speak for vulnerable individuals and support them across a wide range of circumstances, which I find profoundly rewarding.

Outside of my practice, my greatest joy is time with my family, my husband of 32 years, our four remarkable children, and our spirited three-year-old granddaughter, with whom I recently spent a full week making memories. I also love salsa dancing, which remains one of my favorite ways to recharge and celebrate life.
