Robles acknowledges that biases from some older individuals regarding women in the field can present challenges, but she encourages pushing forward and not allowing others to dictate one's path.

Ten minutes with Lillian

01What do you attribute your success to?

My donation, I really persisted to get myself job openings, get myself out there. I do student research with my school as well. Talk to professors. A lot of stuff online, like, look for any opportunities that I can.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

To keep pushing yourself as much as you can because you're capable of more than you think you can do.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Honestly, just don't be afraid to keep going, especially in a male-dominated field. I'm proud to go this far just because I want to show younger females that it is possible to make it this far, and to keep going. And to create a path. We are women, we're just as smart, we belong there just like everyone else. We're just as qualified.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Sometimes I get a little nervous that some older folks are more cognitive in some manners and have their thoughts on females leaning. It can be a little tough, but you gotta put yourself out there, throw yourself, don't let anyone's dictate what you think or should go.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Keeping a good attitude. Especially when things get... If you're having a negative attitude, thinking you're just gonna make yourself miserable, you know? Stuff happens, and it's gonna suck, but, you know, let's just pick yourself right back up and keep...
