Ten minutes with Lily

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to resilience born from survival and necessity, strengthened by lifelong learning and purposeful collaboration. As a woman and a Latina professional, I have often had to demonstrate my merit three times over because of systemic biases. These experiences taught me to advocate for equity, not merely equality, and to transform obstacles into pathways for others.

I also understand that meaningful success is rarely achieved alone. My professional identity centers on building collaborative ecosystems where education, organizations, businesses, and communities connect through shared values, mutual respect, and exceptional competencies. It is deeply enriching to work alongside professionals who recognize that our collective knowledge and diverse perspectives strengthen what each of us can accomplish individually.

My global perspective, combined with business intelligence and entrepreneurship, enables me to identify emerging needs, make evidence-based decisions, and create innovative opportunities across cultures. Ultimately, I measure success not only by what I achieve, but also by the relationships I cultivate, the knowledge we exchange, and the opportunities we create together.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is that technical expertise alone is never enough. Effective leadership requires us to understand the human, cultural, and organizational factors surrounding the data. Business intelligence becomes truly powerful when technical knowledge is combined with an understanding of the complete business landscape. Numbers may reveal what is happening, but people, culture, and context help us understand why.

This advice has shaped my professional identity and the Educarte Professional Collaborative Ecosystem, where professionals contribute their individual expertise while working toward shared goals and values. It is deeply enriching to collaborate with accomplished professionals who understand that exceptional competencies achieve their greatest impact when they are shared. Together, we transform knowledge into informed decisions, meaningful relationships, and opportunities that strengthen businesses and communities.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering business, entrepreneurship, or technology is to find mentors and become part of a professional collaborative ecosystem. Build strong technical expertise, but never underestimate the importance of cultural intelligence, adaptability, and human understanding. Learn to interpret both the data and the environment behind it.

Your greatest advantage will be your ability to combine evidence with perspective, question assumptions, understand context, and transform information into informed action. Do not simply seek a place at the table. Develop the knowledge, confidence, and professional credibility to influence the decisions made there—and eventually create new tables where other women can contribute and lead.

Surround yourself with accomplished women who believe in reciprocal learning, share professional values, recognize exceptional competencies, and actively promote one another’s growth. Success becomes more meaningful when women exchange knowledge, create opportunities, and advance together. The strongest professional ecosystems are built by women who understand that supporting another woman’s success does not diminish their own; it expands what becomes possible for everyone.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The greatest challenge, and perhaps the most significant opportunity, in my field is integrating artificial intelligence and business intelligence without losing the human and cultural context behind the data. Organizations now have unprecedented access to information, but data alone does not create wisdom. Technology can identify patterns and possibilities, but responsible leaders must interpret them through the lenses of ethics, cultural intelligence, professional judgment, and lived experience.

The opportunity lies in developing collaborative leaders who can unite analytics, global entrepreneurship, and human understanding to make ethical, innovative, and sustainable decisions. This principle is central to the Educarte Professional Collaborative Ecosystem, where professionals with exceptional and diverse competencies come together around shared values. When knowledge is exchanged across disciplines and cultures, AI becomes more than a tool for efficiency; it becomes a resource for expanding access, strengthening organizations, and creating meaningful opportunities for the communities we serve.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

This answer should reveal not only what you value, but how those values shape your leadership, scholarship, entrepreneurship, and service.

The values most important to me are integrity, education, service, cultural respect, resilience, and purposeful leadership. I believe knowledge creates responsibility: when we gain experience, influence, or access, we should use it to open doors for others.

In my work, integrity means making decisions that are ethical, evidence-based, and centered on people rather than convenience. Education represents more than academic achievement; it is a pathway to dignity, independence, economic mobility, and community transformation. I also deeply value cultural intelligence because effective leadership requires understanding the histories, identities, and organizational environments that shape human behavior.

Resilience has guided both my personal and professional journey. It has taught me to adapt without abandoning my principles, to continue learning through uncertainty, and to transform challenges into opportunities for growth. Above all, I value service. I measure success not only by what I accomplish, but by whether my work strengthens institutions, advances women, supports underserved communities, and creates sustainable opportunities for future generations.
