Her Story
About Lina
Lina Hagstrom spent seven years leading global brand marketing at a tech company before leaving two years ago to found a film production company. Through this company she produces what she calls biopics, which are commissioned documentaries about individuals' lives, company histories, founder journeys, and organizations. One of her biopics was accepted into a New York film festival. She is also developing a feature film titled Miss New York about a Nordic journalist navigating life in New York City, building an audience through her Substack newsletter at missNewYork.substack.com. In addition, Hagstrom continues to provide marketing services to tech clients and co-owns a separate marketing services company with two business partners, where they are developing technology to support marketing efforts. She attributes her success to a combination of curiosity, optimism, high ambitions, a mindset focused on possibilities rather than obstacles, and the support of her parents and network, which fostered her self-confidence.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Lina
01What do you attribute your success to?
I think it's a combination of being very curious and optimistic. I've always had high dreams and ambitions. I really do not see obstacles in my life, only possibilities. I grew up with super supportive parents who always encouraged me, which gave me great self-confidence and self-esteem. I have a great support network from family and friends.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Get experience working somewhere first to learn and build confidence before starting your own thing. Follow what you are naturally good at or interested in. Practice confidence as a lifelong thing through experience and self-awareness. Go after rejections actively to build the habit of reaching out. Put in the time, effort, and be consistent over time.
